# How do GGH auctions work?

Our auctions run on [Green Gate Drops](https://greengatehobbies.com/drops). Every lot updates live, so you see new bids and price changes without refreshing the page.

## English auctions

The price goes up. Each bid must be at least the lot's bid increment above the current highest bid. When the timer runs out, the highest bidder wins.

## Dutch auctions

The price goes down. It starts high and drops by a set amount every minute until it reaches the lot's minimum price. The first person to bid wins right away at the current price, and the lot closes.

## Anti-snipe protection

Some English lots have anti-snipe protection. On those lots, a bid placed close to the end adds time to the clock, so other bidders get a chance to answer. Every late bid adds more time.

## Auction tiers

Your auction tier decides which lots you can bid on. Each lot page shows the minimum tier it needs.

| Guest | A new account | Lots open to Guest |
| Basic | An account at least 30 days old, plus P3,000 in lifetime purchases or 1 event in the last 120 days | Lots open to Basic and below |
| Verified | An account at least 30 days old, plus P10,000 in lifetime purchases or 3 events in the last 120 days | All standard lots |
| Premium | An account at least 30 days old, plus P50,000 in lifetime purchases or 10 events in the last 120 days | Every lot, including exclusive and limited ones |

We update your tier automatically, and your account page shows it. Auction tiers are separate from the Bronze to Platinum shop tiers.
